Don Tommaso Chianti Classico, “Gran Selezione” starting from 2010 vintage, showcases the natural potential of a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot, enriched with French oak aging in barriques. Its modern and international style remains solidly anchored to the territory. Fruity, deep, and complex, it is a soft, intense, and big wine to drink.
Tasting and pairing notes:
It is a full, opaque ruby red. On the nose, it is generous and intense with rich, dark fruit flavors like blueberry, ripe plum, and blackberry jam. Its spiciness enrichens and completes the bouquet, giving it a long finish with notes of licorice, china bark, and balsam. It has a decidedly solid, enveloping structure, supported by round tannins and a pleasant freshness. Pair with stewed meats cooked in grape marcs, as a pot roast, and with aged cheeses.
